Pink Tulip with Blue Marble Still Life by Linda McCoy

12"X12" Oil on gallery wrapped canvas. I used a larger canvas as this tulip stood upright. I've always like painting tulips, the forced bulbs are usually smaller but the color is always nice. I thought the shape of this little vase was pleasing, and the light bouncing around created a nice abstract design. Again, the set up was in an east window in morning sunlight.

Tulip with Glass Vase and Marbles by Linda McCoy

This was complicated, challenging and great fun to paint. I set this up in the east window this morning and let the sunlight to it's job. The pink is a new color from Blue Ridge art supply. If you are curious, email Eric and he will tell you the color http://www.blueridgeartist.com/. It is a beautiful transparent pink, lighter than permanent rose. Just lovely. It was a nice compliment to the greens in the marbles and background.

Happy 50th Birthday Ellen!

I painted this from the show of Friday Jan 25th. It was her birthday celebration show and she was sitting very still for a few moments while listening to callers wish her a happy birthday. I first saw her in person the summer before her first sit com, she was performing at a corporate meeting. She was funny of course, talking about deer having a party and oh look here come the guys in the orange vests. I really like her daytime show, she still makes me laugh. Nothing like a little comedy while mixing up the paints! Hope she keeps making people laugh for another 50 years. 6"X6" Oil on gallery wrapped stretched canvas. tcoy1@msn.com

Dancers Circle of Rhiannon lll

9"X12" Oil sketch on gallery wrapped stretched canvas. This is a small study for a larger painting. I posted the front of these lovely ladies earlier. They were very proud of their tatoo's so I thought why not paint them? I can't wait to start the larger painting. Thanks again ladies!

Glass Egg, Still Life Oil Painting by Linda McCoy

Sold
I found this glass egg at ArtonSymmes and had to give it a try. I set it up in an east window. Happily we had sunshine today so there was great light. Painting glass is challenging and every highlight matters. I am working on a few larger pieces but I manage to get sidetracked by whatever new subject that inspires me. I think the little 6"X6" oils are addictive, and the challenge is not only the process of painting but of finding new inspiration. It finds me somehow when I least expect it.

Chocolate Nut Cup Baklava by Linda McCoy

6" X 6" Oil on gallery wrapped stretched canvas. When I lived and worked in the Detroit area there was a business location that I visited with an employee named Jeanette. Every now and again she would bring in homemade Baklava. It was so good we wanted to take the baklava and Jeanette home with us. When she went to Israel she brought me oils back from the Holy Land. I hope Jeanette is doing well, she is a great lady.

Lemon Tart, Pastry Oil Painting by Linda McCoy

Like lots of people I've sworn off desserts. New Years regulations I guess. Painting this without grabbing a bite was not so much fun! I know some little tykes who will be happy to do the deed and get the thing out of the refrigerator!

Oil Sketch, Belly Dancers, Circle of Rhiannon by Linda McCoy

9"x12" Oil sketch on gallery wrapped stretched canvas. Now, ladies if you are out there and you are looking at this little sketch remember this is a small "study" that artists do before we paint the larger canvas. It's not the finished piece, which you will have to wait to see! Containing these charming ladies and their outgoing personalities on such a small canvas was quite a task. I loved meeting them at the Pyramid Hill Art Fair! Thank you for posing!

Italian Pastries, Florence Italy

Running like a crazy tourist to shop at the Ponte Vecchio, I almost missed these little guys. They seemed to be watching the people. The bakery had positioned them like mannequins, and they seemed to be interacting. I snapped a quick photo through the bakery window, but I still have regrets that I didn't run in and purchase one. They still make me laugh, even though this trip was last March. Their eyeglasses were nowhere near their eyes which only adds to the silliness. 6" X 6" Oil on gallerywrapped stretched canvas. tcoy1@msn.com Sold

Still Life with Orange Dish

12" X 12" Oil on gallery wrapped stretched canvas. I don't want my paintings to match the dreary weather we have here so I decided to have some fun. I underpainted with a very bright mix of windsor green and cadmium yellow medium. The rest of the palette is cerulean, smalt, permanent rose and cadmium scarlett for the dish. A little larger piece, with a lot of color. $175.00 tcoy1@msn.com
